Double Down Disco

Doube Down Disco are a Dumfries based DJ Duo; Les Ross and Lewis Boddy who are committed to the authentic vibes of Disco, Boogie, House, Edits, Hip Hop and Jazzy vibes. They have begun to establish a scene in Dumfries for friendly and funky dance music events, with original and creative homage to the disco era with new mixes, visual partnerships and enjoyable themed events.

Event info: Studio 54 was the epicentre of 70s hedonism–a place that not only redefined the nightclub, but also came to symbolize an entire era. Now, 39 years after the velvet rope was first slung across the club’s hallowed threshold, a feature documentary tells the real story behind the greatest club of all time.

The brief wasn’t specific –collaboration with performers – but essentially to create a spectacular event with fabulous visual performances. To help create the right atmosphere and involve guests in the full Double Down Disco party experience.

Maddjakallss used their Attracting Attention performance characters to add theme and theatrics to this event. Posing door characters were provided to add a little something special for the guests arriving to and from the film hosting. The cinema door performer was joined by a Bianca Jagger character and horse* for photographs. The Maddjakallss then led guests through the town to the evening venue. Attracting Attention door podium performers were well rehearsed in disco specific choreography. The door podiums were adapted to display the Double Down Disco logo and the dancing performers interjected the dance floor with choreographed dance moves and crowd participation.

Doube Down Disco said – MaddJakkalls provided us with a service “Attracting Attention” for our Studio 54 party which certainly lived up to it’s name and exceeded all expectations we had. They communicated with us on the run up to the party and provided us great detail prior to the event of what they were going to do, and added extra flair and uniqueness to the event. This made the event extra special and memorable for us, but most importantly our guests at the party. The MaddJakkall touch to our party without doubt got people talking, gawping and most importantly smiling as they entertained guests with their dancing, costume and mystique. The professionalism, attention to detail and energy provided by MJK prior, during and after the event was second to none, and we can’t wait to have them back for more hijinx at another DDD party.

Queer Haggis

Maddjakallss were drafted in at short notice to fulfil the brief of assisting in a promotional photoshoot for “Queer Haggis: pride 2018”. The brief was to bring the fabulous and freaky aspects of our attracting attention brand to act as visual aids and supporting models for lead model Ivana. We accomplished the brief in full under tight time constraints and to the complete satisfaction of our client.

Maddjakallss proudly worked in partnership with LGBT services and other local partners to bring together a regional music and entertainment event for the LGBTQIA community. This involved bringing together a collective of technicians, performers and artists to contribute to the overall concept for this large scale outdoor entertainment event. Maddjakallss also provide stage management for the day of the production, linking with each performer, the sound technicians and the event stewarding crew. The decorative elements included the large scale decor to the outdoor main stage area known as the ‘Plane Stane’ and the items provided to the ‘Pride village’ market stall area, located in the High Street. The event was the first of its kind in Dumfries and pulled in acts from across the UK, such as Danny Beard and Ross Alexander, as well as upcoming UK artists and performers from across the region. The event culminated in a shower of glitter and rainbow smoke effects, courtesy of the safe and professional control of the Maddjakall team.
